Here are some practical, sensory ideas for fun learning activities using a sand tray and pebbles. Use marker pens or stickers for your pebbles which you then bury in the sand. There is a blank template for you or your children to use to make their own. Extend by providing children with outline numbers and letters and let them form them using sticky backed coloured stars. These memory games are based on Kim’s game which generally uses objects. Each game has 5 colour pictures all with a topic theme: Farm Characters/people Transport Bugs Buildings Seaside Garden Stationary Circus Feelings Page 1 gives the teacher instructions on how to play the game. Then there is a worksheet to go with each topic. These are for the children to write their lists on and to cut and order the pictures from memory. There is a blank template that you can use for any other topic you are teaching. Extend the amount of pictures for more able /older children. This game links to maths /number/counting to 5 and literacy, speaking and listening and list writing as well as sequencing.
